Title: Quilt Studio Tour 2009
Location: Jackie Anderson’s Cottage Hobby House
Description: Ever wondered what other people’s workspace looks like? Here’s your chance to visit several different studios in Anacortes. This Studio Tour would be held on Saturday, April 18th from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. The tour will start at Jackie Anderson’s Cottage Hobby House at 1220 12th Street, on the corner of 12th St. and M Ave, where interesting demos and displays will start the tour. Tickets will be sold for only $5.
A wide array of the guild members will open their studios. Of interest will be a long arm machine quilter who will demonstrate how to work a commercial long arm quilting machine. There will also be several multi-media studios where weaving, dying, fabric reinvention, painting, drawing-layout, spinning and/or sewing will be shown. Another venue will be a shared quilt and ceramics studio, equipped with special tools for a sight impaired artist. An interesting collection of sewing machines will be on display in another workspace, some of which are converted from electric machines to manual (hand crank) for use by women in Africa so they are able to do quilt piecing without electricity.
This is guaranteed to be a delightful day of seeing how fellow quilters/artists organize their work space.
