Reach For Recovery – Breast Cancer Pillows
One of the Community Service things that FIQ used to do is make breast cancer pillows for a program called Reach for Recovery. Ann Hanover was in charge. These small pillows help relieve pain and provide comfort after breast cancer surgery.
The pillows are 8 inches by 12 inches, finished size. The fabric can be flannel, cotton, or a polyester blend. Use something soft. You can make these pillows from one colorful fabric, sized 16 1/2 by 12 1/2, then folded. Or you can use any “orphan” blocks, or piece together something new.
The filling should be fairly firm, but not hard. The closing may be hand stitched or machine stitched. Please keep in mind that the pillows should be soft and comforting and appealing. The instructions are also in your Guild Guide that yellow folder you got when you joined.
