New members-Suns September 2011

Charlene Hill
Charlene has lived in Washington State for many years. However, she likes Anacortes best! She is married and retired. She is raising a 20 month old granddaughter, a 4 year old great grandson, two 16 yr old twin foster children, a boy and a girl. Mary Ellen Gilmore introduced her to the guild .  Charlene loves applique and traditional quilting, she sews a lot of her quilts on a treadle sewing machine. She is looking forward to meeting new friends, taking classes and participating in the guilds activities.

 

Mary Fewing
Mary moved here from Everett 1-1/2 years ago she is a medical receptionist and currently looking for a job  in Anacortes. She has two sons and a three year old grand daughter. She heard about our guild online.  Mary is fairly new to quilting and would like to start off doing more traditional quilting.  She is looking forward to classes, meeting new people, and learning new quilting techniques.

 

Bruce Fairbanks
Bruce has lived in the Anacortes for + 20 years.  He is retired from a career in engineering, and helps his wife with her pet sitting business.  He has three children and four grandchildren.  He has known about the guild for sometime and knows several of our members.  He started quilting about 40 years ago.  He enjoys traditional and art quilting equally.  He is looking forward to learning new skills.  He is currently working on a standard pattern and putting his own touch to it.

 

Linda Benjamin
Linda is out of town helping her mother for the next couple weeks.  We will talk to her when she returns.

New Members Stars  – September 2011

Shari Remmenga
Shari has lived in the area for 25 years.  She works at Bayshore Office Supply, which is where she heard about the guild.  Shari is married with five children, but no grandchildren yet. She is a very traditional quilter, and looking forward to the fellowship, and working with the Community Service Quilt group.

Kathy Ives
Kathy also works at Bayshore, and heard about the guild there.  She has lived in the area 14 years and has one daughter.  Kathy emphasized her interest in applique, and looking forward to meeting and working with other quilters.
