TEXTURE AND DEPTH IN QUILTS AND FIBER PROJECTS

This is an opportunity to learn how to add texture and depth with fabric manipulation and hand stitch. No machines will be used. If you can hand baste you have all the skills needed.
Building on the first class Marianne taught for FIQ, hand stitching is used in folding, layering and stuffing as well as in her signature ridge-making on silk. New as well as returning students will find that they can make their creations unique no matter where their initial inspiration began.
This is a hand stitch class where all supplies are included in the kit/materials fee. All the students need to bring are their fabric scissors, paper scissors, scissors to cut thread, and their favorite thimble. Regular sewing supplies are welcome but not necessary. While machines will not be used, discussions will include how similar effects can be achieved at home with a machine.
This will be a continuation of her first class, which was on stitching. (However, if you have experience with hand stitching you will do fine in this class.) This class will focus on depth and creating depth in your handwork. All of her class is hand stitching. She creates a kit, which is extensive. The class will be two days, June 10 & 11th. The fee for the class will be $80. plus a kit fee of $50.
Many of you told me you wanted her to teach again. She has been very busy since she last taught. She has won two awards at the Japan International show and two quilts were in the show Quilt=Art=Quilt, and also Quilt National ’09.
If you want to be in this class you must sign up and pay in full for the class ($80.) by May 15th. Marianne has to have plenty of time to create the number of kits involved and this is a lot of work. We also need to be able to release her for other work if the class is too small to make.
The limit of students is firmly at 20 to allow for plenty of time with the teacher. SIGN UP NOW! DO NOT DELAY AS WE WON’T GO OVER THE LIMIT.
